This guide provides comprehensive instructions on setting up and troubleshooting devices used for ROCS, including Chromebooks, Windows, and Mac computers.


Setting Up Your Chromebook:


  1. Unboxing and Powering On:

    • Unbox your Chromebook and press the Power button to turn it on.
    • You’ll see a welcome screen. Click “Let’s Go” to begin.
  2. Connecting to WiFi:

    • Select your home WiFi network from the list.
    • Enter your WiFi password and click “Connect”.
  3. Updating Your Chromebook:

    • The Chromebook will check for updates. Allow it to download and install any necessary updates to ensure it’s running the latest version of Chrome OS.
  4. Signing in with Your ROCS Account:

    • You will be prompted to sign in with your ROCS Google account.
    • Enter your email in the format firstname.lastname@rocs.org and click “Next”.
    • For first-time logins, contact ROCS support to obtain your temporary password.
  5. Setting Up GoGuardian:

    • GoGuardian is pre-installed on your Chromebook to help keep your online activities safe and secure.
    • You don't need to do anything; it’s automatically set up to protect your browsing.


Troubleshooting Common Device Issues:

  • Issue:Chromebook won’t connect to WiFi
    • Solution: Double-check the WiFi password and try reconnecting. If it still doesn’t work, restart your router and Chromebook.
  • Issue:Slow performance or freezing
    • Solution: Ensure your Chromebook is fully updated. Close unnecessary tabs or apps that might be slowing down the device.
